A watch is just a device created by the hands and mind of a person to measure time. But how significant this device has become for the human race! Time always goes forward and not a step back, it cannot be stopped, it cannot be slowed down. Time is given to us from the moment we were born until our death.
How the clock was invented
Everything is much simpler than you think – the initial second hand is followed by minutes, minutes, hours, hours, days, months, and years, and eventually old age comes. In the end, time for a certain person ends.
Who invented the first watch
The answer to the question of who invented the first clock mechanism, unfortunately, has been lost over the past millennia. This name has long been forgotten both documented and popular.
How the clock was invented
Let’s start from the most ancient times, when the idea of creating watches was just beginning to emerge, let’s go back several thousand years, about 3.5 thousand years. Then man kept track of time with the help of the sun.
There was one way to know the time. In the early morning, when the sun is just starting to rise, the roosters wake up and start crowing. For the owners, this meant that it was time for them to wake up and start their working day.
When the Sun is exactly overhead, it’s time for dinner. And people went to bed only when it started to get dark outside. It was hard, of course, because in summer the day lasted much longer than in winter. And then some person came up with the idea of creating a mechanism for controlling time.
There are so-called sundial. The first such device for measuring time was quite simple. Not a tall wooden or metal rod, mounted on a flat surface. Basically, it was a flat stone, and the time was approximately recognized by the shadow from the Sun.
At present, since ancient times, there has been a sundial in the Lithuanian city of Siauliai. All cities have their attractions, and this city is famous for its central square with a sundial. Under the pillar itself, at a short distance from it, the dial is applied as on a regular watch. But the man still thought about improving the clock.
Clock progress
Time passed, and the clock mechanism improved, but as it turned out, such a watch could not be taken with you to the sea. But it was vital for sailors to know the exact time in order to determine their location.
How the clock was invented
Then there was a way out in the form of an hourglass, although this, it seems to me, was also not the best option. After all, a person always had to stand next to this watch and constantly turn it over, and their accuracy was not very good. While sailors struggled with such watches, John Harrison was already trying to create an accurate watch mechanism for traveling the sea – a chronometer. And he completely succeeded – in 1735, such watches were already used on most merchant ships, and they began to deliver the goods on time and not go astray. For this, John Harrison received a worthy reward for his work from the English Admiralty.
How the clock was invented
As we see at the moment, this idea was a success. Now every person has this device for measuring time. Pocket watch, bracelet watch, cell phone watch..
Modern clock
At present, there are so many varieties of watches in the world that you cannot list all the models and all the creators of these watches. Today, everyone has a watch. And it doesn’t matter what country it is in and what continent it is on, time is now considered the same everywhere. There are special atomic clocks that run with the highest accuracy to date, and which serve as a standard of time. In general, in my opinion, a watch is the most necessary device in life. This is how a person gradually came up with a unique clockwork.
